When the Sibos international financial conference arrives this September, it’ll be one of MTCC’s most complex gatherings from a catering perspective, says Chef Lampard. Besides providing food and beverage for meeting rooms, receptions and networking events, 170 trade show exhibitors will have the opportunity to order catering for their booths. There will be a 600-seat table d'hôte space that will require a customized mobile kitchen, and there will be a 12-station, Streets of Toronto-themed food hub, representing neighbourhoods such as Little Portugal and Chinatown, each with its own micro-kitchen. A COMMITMENT TO LOCAL Did you know that MTCC typically serves 38,000 bottles of wine each year, all sourced from the Niagara Region, Lake Erie-Pelee Island and Prince Edward County? Every bottle of craft beer served (94,000 per year), is made by Toronto-area craft brewers, including Steam Whistle, located right across the street from the convention centre. “That’s about as local as you can get,” says David Procopio, Director, Food and Beverage Services. On January 17, American Express returned to MTCC with the Amex ICS Commercial Canada Kick-off after a successful two-day event the previous June. The January event was attended by over 200 guests, with the catering team accommodating all dietary requests, including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian, says Diane Sammy, executive assistant, ICS. “Taste and quality were most important to our team.
