Get inspired PLANNERS NOTEBOOK NO MORE BORING TABLE NUMBERS!! When Jhammi-Leigh Gunnarsen, event coordinator with Reveal Events in Vancouver, was charged with coming up with a creative way to identify the tables at an upcoming casino- themed event, she ran with it. And dare we say she hit the jackpot! Here, she shares the concept: When Ignite’s publisher, Debbie van der Beek, dropped a video into the team chat from the opening reception of SITE Exchange at the Fairmont Tremblant, jaws collectively hit the floor. Suspended several feet above the crowd, violinist Patrice Painchaud performed live while strapped to a freely floating snow- board atop a custom sway pole— part concert, part aerial theatre. Designed specifically for live events, the act combines virtuo- sic violin performance with fluid, near-inverted movement, en- hanced by mapped LED lighting along the spire and a glowing neon snowboard. The result is a striking, self-contained visual signature that instantly elevates receptions, general sessions and outdoor openings. For planners, logistics are simple: a 12-ft. by 12-ft. footprint, 25-min- ute setup and ceiling requirements starting at 16 ft. Painchaud can perform multiple sets of up to 60 minutes, indoors or out, making this a show-stopping, highly flexi- ble booking for bold events. painchaudproductions.com When we were invited to produce the 2025 Coquitlam Firefighters’ Charity Mayor’s Ball, we saw an opportunity to lean into storytelling and resourceful design— finding ways to create meaningful impact through smart, imaginative choices. With a Las Vegas-inspired theme and 32 tables to anchor the room, we turned to the rich history of the city itself. Each table was named after an iconic Las Vegas hotel, drawing from a mix of legendary properties that still stand and those that have since disappeared. Names like The Mirage, The Frontier, Tropicana and Circus Circus became part of the guest experience, transforming something as functional as table numbers into conversation starters. Once the hotel list was curated, we sourced archival imagery for each property and designed the table identifiers as vintage-style postcards. These visual touches tied seamlessly into the theme while adding texture and nostalgia to the room. From there, the seating chart came together effortlessly, ready for guests to discover their place within a small piece of Las Vegas history. The result was a playful, immersive nod to the spirit of Las Vegas—proof that thoughtful design and creative use of resources can elevate an event, spark conversation and deliver memorable moments without excess.
