What motivates you to get out to a stadium or local pub to watch the game, download a sports app, engage on social media or buy the T-shirt? Excitement, fun, pride, loyalty, tradition, nationalism, socialization… there are dozens of emotional drivers that help explain why fans engage. If you’re a sport organization or marketing partner, the trick is to identify your property’s unique set of drivers, and how to best leverage them. It’s challenging, but worth the effort since the goal is to create more meaningful connections with fans. The power of emotions in a fragmented market was a key topic of discussion during ADRENALIN’s very first editorial roundtable (see page 16).
